Emmanuel Dahn, Representative-Aspirant, District #7, Montserrado County

The Representative-aspirant of district #7, Montserrado County, Emmanuel Dahn, has underscored that sanitation is important and cardinal to the wellbeing of every district in the country and, therefore, needs to be collectively addressed.

Aspirant Dahn made the statement last week during the clearing of a large sewage by the Liberia Water and Sewer Corporation (LWSC) at the Benson and Gurley streets intersection, adjacent the Inquirer Newspaper.

Speaking to journalists before the clearing up of garbage by the LWSC at the site, representative-aspirant Dahn said the situation was hazardous and caused by the community dwellers themselves by misusing the drainage system and throwing waste into the drainage. He warned them to desist from such a bad habit.

“This situation is affecting everyone in this district. People need to stop throwing garbage in the community anyhow, because it will not augur well for their health,” he said.

The representative-aspirant said the LWSC has a challenge to take control of the waste in the republic; as such, the government needs to assist the entity through budgetary allotment in the opening of blocked drainages around the country.

According to him, the LWSC will always continue to have his support in such situations because of the love he has for the people, and that he will continue to contribute his little resources toward cleaning routines.

He added, “We have this as a priority in our manifesto. The LWSC will get our full support before and after our election to the district leadership, and will always try to save our people by giving them good sanitation and good health programs.”

The LWSC cleared the feces at the Benson and Carey Street intersection last week after several engagements to the LWSC management concerning the health hazard of the community residents, as well as cars plying the streets. The initiative was made possible through the intervention of representative-aspirant Emmanuel Dahn.
