Ministry of National Defense and Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for specialized training for the Customs Department of the LRA.

The MOU will govern collaboration on maritime enforcement and training of Customs officers in selected specialized courses to build specialized skills necessary for customs border operations and management, in keeping with the statutory roles and responsibilities of customs in Liberia.

The training courses will be those necessary to develop competencies and tactical skills of customs in border management and border enforcement.

Both entities have agreed that coordination and collaboration will entail the maximum level of interaction, to be sustained by an open line of communication and regular exchange of information.

The MOU is the first step in formalizing this training cooperation, which sets the stage for onward coordination.
