THE STUDENT DISCIPLINARY Committee of the University of Liberia (UL), in a UL release on emerging student violence on the campuses of the University of Liberia (UL) issued over the weekend, observed, “The footage and images clearly show students intentionally defacing and willfully damaging university buildings at multiple locations on the Capitol Hill campus, including the Graduate School and other university facilities, by splashing and smearing paint on walls. These actions constitute deliberate destruction of institutional property and demonstrate a blatant disregard for the academic environment.

“THE STUDENT DISCIPLINARY Committee condemns in the strongest possible term these acts of vandalism, destruction of property and graffiti-style defacement of university facilities, all of which are serious violations of the University of Liberia Student Handbook. Such conduct does not reflect the standards of discipline, responsibility and civic-minded behavior expected of students of the University of Liberia, Liberia’s premier institution of higher learning. The University of Liberia will not tolerate vandalism, destruction of property or any form of misconduct that undermines the integrity of the institution.”

THE COMMITTEE POINTED out that all students involved in these unacceptable acts will be thoroughly investigated, and anyone found to be in violation of the Student Handbook will be held fully accountable and will face the appropriate disciplinary consequences in accordance with university regulations.

IT CALLED ON all students to conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity, maturity and respect for university property, and to serve as positive ambassadors of the institution. “The University of Liberia expects its students to demonstrate constructive, lawful and responsible behavior that upholds the dignity, values and reputation of the university at all times,” the release observed.

THE COMMITTEE REAFFIRMED its commitment to preserving discipline, safeguarding university property and ensuring that the University of Liberia remains a respected center of academic excellence and responsible citizenship.
