Employees Honor Minister Kruah
The Minister of Posts & Telecommunications, Cllr. Cooper W. Kruah Sr., was honored by some employees of the ministry for diligently seeking employees’ welfare and pressing forward for salary increment.
While it is true that some ministries in the Weah government are finding it difficult for their employees to get satisfactory salary benefits in line with salary harmonization, Minister Kruah has stood his grounds, keeping the peace among employees and building the hope for President Weah’s harmonization to be effective under his administration.
In recent time, the Ministry of Transport, a stone-throw away from the Ministry of Post and Telecommunication, staged a protest in demand of salary increment for directors and assistant directors, but the case with Minister Kruah as observed during the honoring program at the Ministry on Thursday, April 13, 2023 points to fact that the minister has sought the interest of majority of the employees.
Delivering the honoring statement of appreciation, Walter Blamo, a prominent youth advocate of the Liberty Party and an employee of the ministry, recalled the numerous contributions of Minister Kruah and denounced some of the false allegations against the minister.
Appreciating him for human capacity building, he said, “Many staff have had the opportunity to build their capacity through training in countries like Nigeria, Ethiopia, Germany, Israel, China, etc., obtaining master’s degree in varied disciplines.”
Blamo debunked the rumor that Minister Kruah was tribal in his appointments when he took over the ministry. “Since becoming Minister, none of his tribal men who weren’t in the employ of the ministry prior to his ascendency as Minister have been appointed to any key senior director positions in the ministry. The internal transfer of employees that was done within the ministry did not affect anyone who entered the ministry when Cllr. Kruah became Minister,” he said.
“For a clerical example, when Nicholas Johnson left as Minister Kruah’s Special Assistant (SA), he appointed Mr. Emmanuel Fred who hails from Grand Bassa County as his Special Assistant (SA). Francis Imode was transferred as Comptroller and was replaced by one of his staff who worked with him as a Senior Budget Analyst during his days as Comptroller. Mr. Omecee F. Dorley, who hails from Bong County, succeeded his former boss as comptroller. The current Human Resource Management Director (HRM), Mr. Mustapha Fulhubah, hails from Grand Cape Mount County. The Procurement Director was replaced by his own deputy and this followed by other positions.”
Also speaking during the honoring program was the Assistant Minister for Planning and Statistics, Cyrus Kamara, pledged full support to Minister Kruah’s administration and considered him one of the best ministers since his working experience for over a decade with the ministry.
Assistant Minister Kamara noted that Minister Kruah has been seeking employees’ welfare and leaving a legacy for some of the programs he has implemented during his administration.
“Minister Kruah has never wanted everything for himself,” he said. “The minister has always open room for discussion in terms of developing programs, which other ministers keep private to themselves.”
In response to the appreciation, Minister Kruah thanked President George M. Weah for affording him the opportunity to serve, and accepted the Certificate of Honor, saying that it was a team work among him and other ministers to ensure that President Weah’s pro-poor agenda is achieved.
