The former Vice President of Liberia, Ambassador Joseph Nyuma Boakai, is calling on Liberians to return to the hygienic practices put into place by the Health authorities last year when the Coronavirus first hit Liberia. These health protocols included the washing of hands, wearing of face masks, social distancing as well as other personal health procedures issued by the Ministry of Health and the National Public Health Institute of Liberia.
Ex-Vice President Boakai made this observation because of the new strain of the Covid-19 pandemic as announced by the Ministry of Health recently. He noted that this third wave or variant of the virus is highly deadly, and that measures should be taken by citizens and foreigners alike to stop its spread in the country.
In keeping with the enormity of the high rise in the number of cases as reported by the health authorities, the Office of the former Vice President has announced a number of measures which will affect visitation and meetings with Ambassador Boakai.
In view of the above, a 21-day moratorium has been put into place, effective June 22, 2021, during which the Former Vice President will not attend public engagements, and there shall be no scheduling of visitors and meetings at his office or residence. At the end of the moratorium, the resumption of scheduling visitation will be reviewed based on the prevailing Covid-19 situation in the country.
“Meanwhile, all scheduled meetings and visitations will be arranged through Zoom conference calls, WhatsApp, or by regular cellphone conversations,” the former Vice President noted in a press release.
