As the National Election Commission (NEC) declared campaign opened on August 5, 2023 for the October 10 presidential and legislative elections, President George M. Weah has told Liberians to give him his birthday gift through their votes.

“October 1st will be my birthday; give my birthday gift to the ballot box,” President Weah told districts #7 and #8 constituents on his day one campaign tour.

President Weah and partisans, who have strong conviction that the election will end with one round victory in their favor, have engaged the electorate to consider his development marks.

In a boastful tone, President Weah told Liberians and others that, since Liberia’s formation, he has constructed the highest number of hospitals and roads, asking the electorate to maintain him so that he can do more.

Concerning the deficit of the past regime, President Weah stated that it failed massively for the twelve years to renovate the Executive Mansion, which he renovated and now occupies.

“They called themselves fixers and rescuers, but they were the same people that failed to carry on development and shifted blames on Ebola,” he said. “While COVID-19 was on, development was going on and it continues.”

He outlined the dual citizenship bill passage into law as one of his best achievements—which grants Diaspora Liberians the right to return home and develop their homeland.

“Vote me for more development. To the ‘first time voters’, don’t pay attention to those that will tell you all kind of things—who don’t have good plan for your future and country,” the President added.

President Weah, who was inaugurated in January 2018, is seeking a second term come October 10, 2023’s presidential and legislative elections. He thanked Liberians who empowered him by voting for him to be their President.

The President still enjoys the confidence of districts #7 and #8, and was flooded with the presence of partisans and well-wishers.

He mesmerized the two districts’ constituents, campaigning to them as the best candidate. He branded the past regime and opposition as rascals who want personal benefit.

The Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC)  Campaign Chairman, Lenn Eugene Nagbe, urged the electorate to vote President Weah one round for his second term, citing peace, tuition freedom and WAEC fee, as among the greatest achievements of President Weah’s administration. Senator Saah H. Joseph, Moses Acarous Gray and Representative Solomon George, who hailed the President for whom they are today, challenged the electorate to vote one and vote all.
