The Islamic Religious Advisor to President George M. Weah, Usmane T. Jalloh, is urging Muslims and Christians in Liberia to forget the past and collectively join President Weah in uniting the Christians and Muslims for the betterment of Liberia. Since Liberia got her independence in 1847, Jalloh said, no president or government has ever had Islamic Religious Advisor, only President George Manneh Weah, and so Muslims in Liberia need to join him in bringing the two religious groups together to transform the country.

According to him, the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) government has exhibited religious tolerance over the years and, as such, Christians and Muslims should support the President in reconciling citizens of the country. What President Weah has done during three years in office, according to him, is more than some other presidents who served the country in terms of bringing religious groups together.

Jalloh emphasized that his office has worked out all the necessary modalities with President Weah’s office for the two religions to live together in harmony. He pointed out that the government has agreed that, whenever there is a program the opening prayer, if it is done by a Christian, a Muslim person does the closing prayer. With such understanding, he averred that there will be no misunderstanding among the two doctrines anymore in Liberia.

He has vowed to invite great Islamic men into the country to offer prayer for the country in order to transform it. The transformation of Liberia, Jalloh claimed, depends on the citizens despite their religion. He admonished youths of the country to do away with too much protesting, which he said is not in the interest of the country and its people.

The Islamic Advisor made the statement on Wednesday, October 28, 2020 on Carey Street in Monrovia during his honoring ceremony. Jalloh was given a certificate of appreciation by members of the Center for Intellectual Forum (CIF).

CIF President Keifala told the gathering at the famous intellectual forum on Carey Street that the certificate is awarded to Usmane Jalloh based on his numerous assistance to the Muslims community. He revealed that those of them from the Muslim community feel comfortable with the CDC government, especially with Jalloh serving as Islamic Advisor to the President.

He used the occasion to appeal to the President, through the offices of the Religious Advisor, to support the young people in the Muslims community to acquire higher education. He applauded the President for being a religious tolerant person, and vowed to always support him while serving the country.
