NEC Ends Electoral District Dialogues

The National Elections Commission (NEC) Saturday ended the last in the series of four Electoral District Dialogues in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, ahead of the November 16, 2021 representative by-elections in Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh and Nimba counties.

   The NEC-Liberia electoral district dialogues conducted in Bong, Bomi, Nimba and Grand Gedeh counties were held under the theme, “Enhancing Transparency in the Electoral Process”.

   The NEC Electoral District Dialogues were intended to provide a platform for all citizens, including women, people living with disability, the media and other minorities to equitably participate in the by-elections on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 in Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh and Nimba and to put candidates through a broader review of the complaint adjudication procedures.

   A statement from NEC on Saturday, November 13, 2021 said the Electoral District Dialogues were also intended to ensure that candidates and their supporters to conduct themselves peacefully before, during and after the by-elections and to create a platform where the commission and candidates and other election stakeholders can interact with a mutual spirit of partnership.

   The NEC 2021 representative Electoral District Dialogues were conducted in Tubmanburg, Gbarnga, Ganta and Zwedru cities, with members of the Board of Commissioners (BOC), senior technicians, candidates for the 2021 by-elections, members of civil society groups, the media, teachers, youth and women discussing several topics, including electoral dispute resolution mechanisms and inclusiveness in the elections.
