Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, Political Leader, People Liberation Party (PLP)

The People Liberation Party (PLP), headed by Dr. Daniel E. Cassell, over the weekend inducted new members to foster the party’s ideologies.

“In my own capacity as vision and standard bearer of the People Liberation Party, in my own word and from the depth of my heart, l welcome you all,” Dr. Cassell said, joyfully accepting the new members with a broad smile. “Let this day mark a historic remake in your political sojourn.”

The induction ceremony, which was held at the party’s headquarters in Congo Town, was a center of attraction and political jamboree.  The party’s youths wing and battle-cry team charged the conference hall with uncontrollable battle cries, which stimulated Dr. Cassell to respond and dance.

Some of those who joined the party have political ambitions to contest for representative seats in their counties for the 2023 general elections. They are Stephen Jayach, district #1, Grand Bassa County; Bob K. Beah, district #1, River Cess County; Singbeh B. Siakor, district #6, Bong County; Teney G. Torpor, district #9, Nimba County; Moses Teah, district #3, River Gee County; Atty. Augustine Tegleh, district #2, Grand Kru County; Wilmot Cheme, district#1, River Gee County; Pyne Wallo, district #2, Grand Gedeh County; Ma Nyanny Clinton, district #5, Bong County; and Charles M. Bestman. Likewise, a women grouping of Bong County, dubbed, “Touch One Touch All”, headed by Chairlady Louis Zayzay, was also inducted into the party.

Speaking during their induction, Chairlady Zayzay said, “We are for Dr. Cassell and will stand by him. Wherever he goes in our county and district, we will go with him.”

In a special statement, the Chairman of the 15 counties’ Council of Chairmen of the of PLP, Jerry Kollie, accepted the new members and urged them to promote the party’s ideology in their various districts and counties.

“Don’t say by joining the PLP today you will lie down in your bathroom or bedroom and become a candidate of the People Liberation Party,” Kollie said, threatening the new members to promote the party’s vision and to be prepared for primary. “Wear your workman shoes from your district’s corner to the other corner. Join us to go for primary to determine the rightful candidates for 2023’s general elections.”

In Liberia, individuals join political parties to get financial benefit, scholarship, job or to be elected, among others. Dr. Cassell said there are reasons for people selecting parties of their choice.

“You could have decided to join another party, but all of you decided to join the PLP. There is a reason to that, l believe,” he said.

However, in human society, there will always be dissatisfaction and heated debate which sometimes lead to commotion or disunity. This is a nature of human existence, and one should not be deterred, according to Dr. Cassell.

“There are times when the going will get tough. I urge you to remember this date and exercise patience. Remember what motivated you to join,” he said.

“I don’t want this to be a ceremony. This is very significant, both in the eyes of God and man. There are going to be conflicts sometimes, not a matter, but what matters most is how to resolve it.

“If you run away from one conflict, you will always run away from the other conflict, and there will come a time you will have nowhere to run. There are times you will be disenfranchised, please exercise your patience. You are not working for Dr. Cassell or for any party official, but for God”.

The inducted partisans’ head, Pyne Wallo, said they will promote the party’s belief, which is to liberate every Liberian from abject poverty, suppression, among others.

“We will make Dr. Cassell President come 2023 general and presidential elections. Primary or not we will maintain the party status,” he said.
