–Inaugurates New Board Members

On Wednesday, December 4, 2024, the Project Management Institute (PMI)-Liberia Chapter was officially launched at the Royal Hotel in Monrovia. During the PMI-Liberia Chapter launch program, new members of the board were inaugurated into office.

Those members of the PMI-Liberia Board inducted into office and charged with the responsibility of steering the affairs of the organization are J. Cyrus Saygbe, Sr. President; James Lynch Monbo, Secretary; Anderson Kean, Sr., Vice President for Membership; Rakan Zayour, Vice President Finance; Nementa Ralph Sokarlay, Vice President for Marketing and Sponsorship; Isetu Sonnie Bangura Amabo, Vice President for Outreach; and Princess Mariama Zawu, Vice President for Volunteering.

The PMI-Liberia Chapter Secretary, James Lynch Monbo, making remarks at the well-attended program, said the organization has come to help Liberian Project Managers with quality service. According to him, the organization has come to Liberia to stay, for good, and help the country move the country’s national development agenda forward.

The PMI-Liberia Chapter Secretary added that the organization has lots of professionals who have come to Liberian project managers to improve their project management skills. According to him, PMI is a global organization operating in many countries.

The PMI-Liberia Chapter Secretary stated that, the institution coming to Liberia is in good faith, and in the interest of the country. Cuttington University will be used as testing center for the PMI-Liberia Chapter. Secretary Monbo reemphasized that they are here to build the capacity of Liberian project managers, and informed the gathering that membership is open and they are ready to improve the skills of Liberian project managers.

He went on to say that Liberians should take advantage of the PMI-Liberia opportunity by joining to obtain membership. The Secretary of PMI-Liberia Chapter said the organization will contribute to Liberia’s growth and development. According to him, PMI-Liberia has the ability to build the capacity of many professionals to move the development agenda of the country forward.

Also making a statement at the program, was GT Bank, Managing Director, Ikenna Anekwe, who said he is happy for the coming of PMI to Liberia. According to him, PMI-Liberia is going to make the different in the area of Project Management in Liberia. He stated that PMI-Liberia Chapter has come to the country to help provide quality service. According to him, the organization will help project managers greatly in helping to improve their skills.

For his part, the PMI-Sub Saharan Africa Managing Director, George Assamani, said PMI-Liberia has come to Liberia with a good agenda: to help move the country’s development agenda forward. According to him, the Project Management Institute operates in many countries, and they are making headways. “The PMI-Sub Saharan Africa Chapter has come with lots of professional project managers to help Liberia’s project managers in improving their skills,” he stated.

Minister of information, Jerolinmek Matthew Piah, making remarks at the program, said the government of President Joseph N. Boakai welcomed that PMI-Liberia has come to the country at a time President Boakai has endorsed the ARREST AGENDA for development. The MICAT boss expressed the government’s readiness to working with PMI-Liberia to move the country’s national development forward.

He emphasized that the government stands ready to support PMI-Liberia Chapter’s vision to the letter. The Information Minister also hailed PMI-Liberia members for their effort at brining such a good idea to Liberia, which aims to foster the country’s national development.

Also making remarks at the program was Acting Education Minister, Atty. Y. Nyekeh Forkpa, who said project management transcends every sector. He stated that PMI-Liberia Chapter comes at the right time, and encouraged every Liberian to take advantage of the PMI-Liberia opportunity. The program was graced by officials of government and individuals from the private sector, amongst others.
