President Joseph N. Boakai has written the Liberian Senate presenting the Acting Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) Governor, Henry Saamoi, as Governor of the Bank.

The communication from the President was read in the 3rd day sitting of the Senate.
In keeping with its rules, the Senate’s plenary has mandated the Committee on Banking and Currency, chaired by Lofa County Senator, Joseph K. Jallah, to proceed with the confirmation hearing for the new CBL nominee.

It can be recalled that on July 31, 2024 President Joseph Nyuma Boakai named Henry F. Saamoi as Acting Executive Governor of the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL). Saamoi is the former President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the International Bank (IB) Liberia Limited. As the CEO of IB Bank, Saamoi played a pivotal role in driving innovation, fostering financial inclusion and promoting sustainable economic growth in Liberia and across the continent. Under his guidance, IB Bank witnessed remarkable expansion and success, introducing innovative banking solutions, strengthening customer relationships, and contributing to the development of Liberia’s financial infrastructure.

President Boakai’s pick for Acting CBL Governor has been praised for his outstanding achievements, exemplary leadership, and unwavering commitment to advancing the banking sector’s excellence in Liberia, which is said to have continued to inspire and motivate industry stakeholders to strive for excellence and contribute towards building a prosperous and inclusive financial ecosystem across the nation and the African continent.
