Pres. Rennie Tours LNBA Headquarters Project
The President of the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA), Cllr. D. Sylvester Rennie, over the weekend toured the project site of the future home of the LNBA in Tower Hill, Margibi County.
It can be recalled that on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 the Liberia National Bar Association (LNBA) signed an agreement with JES General Engineering for the completion of the construction of the first floor of the bar’s headquarters, located in Tower Hill, Margibi County.
The signing ceremony was held at the LNBA office, Ashmun Street, in the presence of officials of the LNBA, JES General Engineering and the media, with the contract valued at US$211,146 (two hundred eleven thousand one hundred and forty-six United States dollars), and a duration of eight (8) months.
During Saturday’s tour, President Rennie was accompanied by LNBA’s National Project Committee Chairperson, Cllr. Bobby Livingstone, and other members of the bar.
They expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the project, with Cllr. Livingstone disclosing that the bar intends to relocate to its headquarters by January 2025.
The bar, which is currently hosted in the home of Liberia’s first President, Joseph Jenkins Roberts, was established on February 4, 1907 by an Act of the National Legislature.
Speaking during the tour, the President of the Liberia National Bar Association, Cllr. Sylvester Rennie, revealed that his administration is working to ensure that the first floor of the bar’s headquarters is completed before the transition of his leadership in January 2025.
Cllr. Rennie observed that for too long the LNBA has been hosted in rented building, and that it is about time to move on, adding that the challenge of constructing a national headquarters is about sourcing resources from partners and members of the bar.
Meanwhile, the Liberia National Bar Association will on Thursday, November 28, head to its national convention for the election of a new corpse of leadership.
Cllr. Rennie stated that officials elected to the leadership of the bar will have to shoulder the responsibility of elevating the construction of the national headquarters to the next level, stating that he and past leaderships of the bar have done sufficiently well in bringing the first floor of the national headquarters to a completion.
