The President of the Republic of Liberia, H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah, will Wednesday, January 17, 2024, dedicate the refurbished Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Capitol Hill, Monrovia.

Wednesday’s dedication of the refurbished Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building is consistent with his government’s flagship program, “Pro Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development (PAPD)” which, amongst other things, provides for the expansion and modernization of government-owned buildings.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, upon his ascendency to the presidency, President George Manneh Weah vowed to create a conducive environment for all government employees as a top priority of his administration.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs received funding from the Government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to fund the repair and maintenance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Building, from the 5th floor to the basement, while the kingdom of Morocco provided funding for the renovation of the entire 6th floor, the C. Cecil Dennis Auditorium, the Foyer, Façade and the construction of a generator house to host a 500KV generator, which will be donated by the government and people of the Kingdom of Morocco.

The release further stated that the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Dean of the Cabinet, H.E. Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, Sr., negotiated for the funding used for the renovation of the ministry from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the kingdom of Morocco.

As part of the President Weah’s Liberianization policy, the renovation work is being done by a Liberian company, MDMC.

The Liberian Chief Executive is expected to be joined by an array of government officials from the Executive and members of the 55th National Legislature at the dedication ceremony on Wednesday.
