Senate Commences Probe Into Alleged “Looting” Of Youth Center In Bentol
The Senate Committee on Youth and Sports has mandated the Minister of Youth and Sports to submit the list of items allegedly looted from the Youth Center in Bentol, Montserrado County.
The Committee, headed by Montserrado County Senator, Abraham Darius Dillon, reached the decision Monday, February 28, 2022 following a hearing with Minister, Dester Zeogar Wilson.
The committee is conducting probe based on a stinging allegation of Looting of the Youth Center by Montserrado County Senator, Saah H. Joseph.
The revelation resulted into the summoning of Minister Wilson before full plenary of the Liberian Senate, which is regarded as the highest decision-making body of the Upper House and subsequently turned over to its relevant committee for investigation.
Speaking during regular plenary proceedings of the Liberian Senate in its seventh day sitting of the 5th session of the 54th Legislature, Senator Joseph averred that the ministry, under the watch of Minister Wilson, has reneged on all of its other oversight duties and responsibilities assigned to it and has only focused on the sports component.
Minister Wilson is also expected to present a comprehensive report on the programs of the ministry, especially for youth development, the County Meet and inter-ministerial and agencies league.
