Three-Day Mental Health Champions’ Workshop Kicks Off
In an effort to address the issue of mental health in Liberia, the Carter Center Mental Health Program component has embarked on a three-day special working session for mental health champions in the country. The mental health champions’ workshop is intended for individuals with background in mental health, in order for them to use their skills and expertise for mental health advocacy and fund-raising in addressing mental health issues in the country.
Eleven reputable individuals from across Liberia were selected by the Carter Center Mental Health Program Office to become champions for Liberia’s mental health issues.
The three-day sensitization and awareness workshop will last from March 1—3, 2022, and provides in-depth understanding on mental health challenges in Liberia, as well as exposes the participants to treatments and mental health facilities.
The training focuses on core training on mental health, anti-stigma and advocacy, field trip to various mental health centers, serving as ambassadors for Carter Center’s mental health program in Liberia, among other. Institutions in attendance are: Liberia Association of Psychosocial Service (LAP), Mental Care Liberia, Hill Top School Incorporated, among others.
