Monrovia City Mayor, Jefferson Tamba Koijee, says it is now time that Liberians reject activities that threaten the peace and stability of Liberia.

Mayor Koijee made the statement over the weekend at a traditionally organized gathering by the Governing Council of Southeastern Liberia at the Clara Town sports pitch.

The Monrovia City Mayor, on behalf of President George Weah, lauded the Governing Council of the southeasterners for presenting a traditional gift to the Liberian leader for maintaining peace in the country.

Mayor Koijee maintained that no one can dismiss the existence of peace in the country under the watch of President Weah, disclosing a government’s plan to install turf on Clara Town’s sports pitch in the near future.

The National Secretary General of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC) told reporters that the project, when completed, will bring relief to young people and sports lovers.  He noted that President George Weah takes seriously any activity that restores or maintains the peace and happiness of his citizens.

Mayor Koijee noted that such modern sports facility will be built with durable and quality lights to provide citizens the opportunity to use it even during the night hours.

According to him, President Weah’s focus is on a new Liberia through the collaboration of every Liberian, irrespective of background.

He emphasized that the Coalition for Democratic Change government, headed by President Weah, is committed to not only to rebranding the Clara Town field into a modern structure, but also other local playing pitches to serve the common interest of the Liberian people.

The CDC Secretary General noted that, despite several gifts given to the President, this one, which is directly from the owners of the land, speaks volumes.

He said he believes that peace is far better than trouble and, as such, young people should always pay courtesy to the old people.
