The President of the nineteenth (19) graduating class of the United Methodist University (UMU), Fanta D. Sirleaf, along with her team of leadership on April 22, 2024 dedicated a modern biology laboratory at the main campus of the United Methodist University on AshmunStreet, Monrovia.

The cost of the renovation of the biology laboratory, according to Sirleaf, stands at US$22,000. She noted that funding was made possible through the support of her classmates of the 19th graduating class of UMU.According to her, each graduate at the time was charged to make a contribution to enhance the project of the then student council government.

The 19th graduating class of UMU at the time provided support beyond reasonable doubt to the student council government’s departmental initiative.

According to the UMU president-emeritus, her leadership’s feet were held to the fire by the students and the management of the university to provide some level of transformation at the university.

Against this backdrop, she said she and her team decided to embark on key projects aimed at addressing some of the major challenges confronting the forward match of the university. Following their observation, they embarked on several projects on the campuses of the United Methodist University (UMU).

Rev. Dr. Isaac Chukpue-Padmore, Vice President for Administration and Chair of the Department of Management at UMU, expressed the university’s thanks and appreciation for the modern biology laboratory. According to him, modernizing the biology laboratory at UMU was one of the major issues confronting UMU’sBiology Department.

He continued, “Seeing a modern biology laboratory at UMU shows that the university is improving daily.” He said a lot of transformation is taking place at UMU campuses that can be pointed to.

There were statements from Samuel Koenig, Jr., Chairman of the Biology Department, Ishmael Caoh, UMU Biology Students Association (BIOSA), President, John Olando Chea, Jr., Lecturer/Coordinator, Accounting Department, among others, who spoke in appreciation of the project.

The biology laboratory dedication ceremony was well attended by authorities of UMU and former and current students.
