USAID Visits NEC
The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission Director, Jim Wright, at the head of a three-member delegation paid a courtesy call on the Chairperson of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Cllr. Davidetta Browne Lansanah, on Wednesday, October 26, 2021.
The discussions aimed at highlighting the work of the NEC and USAID on democratic elections in Liberia and preparation for the representative by-election in the 4 counties of Bong, Bomi, Grand Gedeh, and Nimba and the 2023 general elections.
Both institutions underscored the need for continued collaboration, with USAID’s commitment to support the work of NEC as it has done over the years.The NEC boss, Cllr. Browne-Lansanah, said the visit would strengthen the relationship between the NEC and USAID.
The USAID Director, Jim Wright, was sworn into office on July 26, 2021 and leads a team of 104 people promoting private-sector economic growth, through market-driven inclusive economic growth supporting increased job creation, effective and inclusive governance catalyzed reforms and greater accountability and foundations for growth strengthened through a healthy productive and educated population.
Wright has been a Foreign Service Officer for 20 years and has over 30 years of experience managing international development and relief programs.
