As Yekeh Returns From Ghana With A Barrage Of Insults: Ignorance Or Stupidity?

Montserrado County’s district #10 Representative and outstanding critic of President George M. Weah, Yekeh Kolubah, has returned from Ghana where he sought medical attention, but with a barrage of insults on the President and the Presidency, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) and the Council of Patriots (CoP).

Representative Kolubah, in an interview with newsmen over the weekend maintained that “President Weah is a dog”, noting that “until the President can get some senses into his head I will not stop calling him a dog”.

He lambasted members of the House of Representatives, whom he said are bent on disrespecting the orders of the Supreme Court, which has ordered that he be paid all his salaries and benefits. He specifically mentioned Montserrado County’s district #5 Representative and House’s Chairman on Ways, Means and Finance, Thomas P. Fallah, accusing him of insisting that he joins the Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) before paying him a dime.

The district #10 lawmaker controversially descended on the leaders of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), describing them as an “embarrassment” to the sub-region. According to him, the Weah administration has refused to implement all the mandates given by that body, including paying former Associate Justice Kabineh Ja’neh’s benefits, and yet they do nothing about it. He commended the leaders of the coup in Guinea, urging them to arrest any ECOWAS leader who would step foot into that country.

Similarly, he described Henry Costa as an extortionist, a criminal, a blackmailer and a dumb-headed individual whose intent is to destroy the CPP after allegedly collecting money from President Weah and Dr. Daniel Cassell. He challenged Costa to exonerate himself from not taking US$200,000 to cancel the January 6 protest, requesting that Senator Darius Dillon testifies to the fact in the matter.

Being so furious about Costa terming him a “crazy” person, Representative Kolubah lamented that the COP chief has reduced the pressure group to a group that merely donates nose masks and other non-essential materials. He argued that, because the COP has lost its direction and true purpose, he has resigned with immediate effect. He clarified that he previously suspended his membership with the group, as this is the only time he has ever declared his resignation, and challenged Costa to prove otherwise.

Attacking the CPP, Yekeh cautioned the leaders of the collaboration to stop behaving like children or he would be left with no option but to remain an independent candidate in order to not lose grip on his constituents. He compared the attitude of the CPP leaders to that of car boys, urging them to respect themselves or have him turn the “rockets”, which were intended for President Weah, to them. He said he will not be a part of jokers—those whose intention is to take state power to benefit themselves and their families and not thinking about the plight of the Liberian people.

He stated that there are old folks in the CPP cussing each other and acting like children, but if they do not stop the nonsense he will personally deal with the situation.

He specifically warned Ambassador Joseph N. Boakai to stop allowing Costa to fool him around the place, purporting to be pushing his agenda. “This boy has done the worst to you…called you a tribalist, dying oldman, unfit for the presidency, old car parked, etc., and now you’re allowing this boy to be creating more wounds for you,” Representative Kolubah wondered.

However, the lawmaker accused himself of aiding Costa to escape from the rule of law—hiding him in cartons to cross him over to Sierra Leone. According to security experts, this information, which he boastfully revealed in the presence of the media, comes with serious implications, which he might be aware of but chose to ignore.

This brings to two the number of persons from the CPP who are criticizing the Weah administration and calling for the establishment of a war and economic crimes court to openly admit to breaking the rule of law, with Cllr. Finley Y. Karngar, a lawyer of the CPP, being the first.

Cllr. Karngar is on record for requesting the immigration authority to release Costa to him, in order that he may turn him over the following day, but allowed Costa to flee out of the country, with Representative Kolubah admitting to aiding Costa in the escape process.

Political pundits are of the opinion that this does not augur well for the justice system, especially so when opposition leaders, who are expected to be the next in line of holding state power, will be behaving in such a manner and publicly bragging about it. They wondered whether Representative Kolubah is doing so in ignorance of the law and its consequences for such action, or is he flagging out yet another “stupidity”.

They said if Yekeh can openly confess his action, then state securities need to invite him to answer why he chose to aid a fugitive to abscond from the rule of law.
