Jetty Does It Again!
The former Indian Consul General to Liberia, Upjit Singh Sachdeva, known as Jeety, has again brought smiles on the faces of inmates at the Monrovia South Beach Prison by providing food and other essential items to keep them up while they serve their correction punishment.
Jeety and his team visited the Monrovia prison center on Saturday, May 29, 2021 and carried dozens of cartoons of chicken, kidney beans, juices, cakes and water for the inmates.
His donation to the prison center is in fulfillment of his promise to continue to remember the inmates with the little that God has blessed him with. About 1,300 plates of hot food were served on Saturday.
In short remarks prior to the presentation of the items, Jeety said he was happy again to be among the prisoners after a month’s period, in order to give them cooked food and other items as part of his promise to them.
He continued that he wished his gesture gives the inmates the optimism that, despite being in prison, people out there cared for them. He made it categorically clear that the donation was made available through his own funds and not the Indian community, as is perceived by some individuals in society.
Receiving the items, Fedell Thomas, who proxy on behalf of the Head Commander of the prison center, Varney Lake, thanked Jeety for his usual food distribution to the inmates, which he said will always be remembered. He encouraged others to follow the good example of Jeety’s humanitarian activities and contribute their quota to the society.
