Tribal Governors of Montserrado County paid courtesy call on CPP Standard Bearer, Alexander Cummings, at his office, on Tuesday, August 29

The Standard Bearer of the Collaborating Political Parties (CPP), Alexander Cummings, has hit at his critics and political opponents, whom he said are afraid of his change agenda and his ardent commitment to combat corruption, which will directly affect their flamboyant lifestyle.

The CPP Standard Bearer said many of them who are afraid are those riding big cars and massively benefitting and enjoying the country’s resources, at the detriment of the poor and suffering masses.

Cummings said young people who constitute about 65 percent of Liberia’s population are living in hopelessness and without gainful employment.

The CPP Standard Bearer spoke Tuesday, August 29, when he met and discussed with the leadership of the Tribal Governors of Montserrado County at his office in Monrovia.

The 52-member tribal Governors, including Bassa, Kru, Gio, Mano, Gbandi, Vai, Kpelle, and Grebo, lamented how politicians often use them, especially during electioneering period and, after they have succeeded, neglect and abandon them.

They also spoke about the irregular low monthly wages, the equivalent of U$100, given them by government, unbefitting as tribal governors, and the need to deal with the growing insecurity and worsening drug abuse, especially among the youth.

Cummings expressed gratitude for the visit by the tribal governors’ leadership, and assured them that a CPP leadership will not disappoint or dash the hopes of Liberians for real change which will improve their lives.

He said a CPP government will vigorously combat corruption, create massive jobs, ensure equal rights and access to jobs and opportunities, irrespective of political affiliation, and that all Liberians will equally benefit from the nation’s wealth and resources.

Cummings promised to stop the influx of dangerous drugs into the country, and said he will work with the religious community and other organizations to rehabilitate youths on drugs and train them with life-saving skills that will make them productive citizens.

He said his commitment to real change is unwavering,  and urged the tribal governors to rally their kinsmen nationwide to support his presidential bid in October.
