The Judge of the Monrovia City Court, Jomah Jallah, has sent a 32-year-old man, Matthew Kerkulah, to the Monrovia Central Prison for allegedly abusing his 16-year-old victim’s anus.

On June 9, 2022 complainant, Sandra Toe, reported to Women and Children Protection Section at Zone-3 that her 16-year-old son was sexually abused in his anus by defendant Kerkulah.

Complainant Toe explained that on June 8, 2022 about 6:00 p.m. her older son, Theophilus Forkpah, asked her if she was aware that his little 16-year-old brother had credited money from lbrahim Bah.

According to Complainant Toe, she asked Bah if her son (name withheld for reason of confidentiality) had credited money from him, and he responded that the boy credited US$50.00 from him but he paid US$25.00, and still owed US$25.00.

Complainant Toe further explained that she asked her 16-year-old son if he had taken money from Bah, and he responded affirmatively.  She asked him why he took such an amount from Bah, but he refused to talk, so she took his cellphone from him. When she and his older brother, Christian Karnga, went through his cellphone, they saw lovers conversation between the victim and defendant Matthew Kerkulah, and when they asked him who Kerkulah was, he responded that Matthew Kerkulah has been sexually abusing him.

The victim’s brother, Karnga, said that he discovered that his little brother was involved in this gay act after Ibrahim Bah told him that his 16-year-old brother credited US$50.00 from him and he was unable to pay back.

Karnga also added that when they seized the victim’s cellphone, he, Karnga, checked his conversation on Facebook Messenger, his photo album, and his contacts, and he discovered that defendant Kerkulah’s photos, phone number and chats on Messenger were seen in the victim’s cellphone. After viewing the conversation, he got to know that defendant Kerkulah had involved the victim in gay “business”.

Christian Karnga said after he read the conversation between the victim and defendant Kerkulah, he realized that defendant Matthew Kerkulah had sexually abused the victim several times, and threatened to kill him if he attempted to tell anybody.

The 16-year-old victim, for his part, said that he got to know defendant Matthew Kerkulah from Facebook between April and May 2022. He said they chatted on Facebook Messenger and he sent his phone number to him.

The victim disclosed that he called defendant Matthew Kerkulah, they met at Cabral Estate on the Old Road, and defendant Kerkulah carried him to his gym behind Kailondo Hotel on the Old Road. He explained that defendant Kerkulah wanted to kiss him but he refused.

The victim continued that, after two days, defendant Kerkulah called him back to gym. He said he returned to the gym, defendant Kerkulah held his shirt, kissed him and later carried him to his house, not far from the gym. He said defendant Kerkulah carried him inside his room and sexually abused him by inserting his penis in his anus.

The victim also said that defendant Kerkulah has sexually abused him in his anus three different times, between May 2022 up to and including June 7, 2022 in the defendant’s room behind Kailondo Hotel.
