MDR Donates 15 Motorbikes To Nimba Kwado
Ahead of the 2023 legislative and presidential elections, the Movement for Democracy and Reconstruction (MDR), through its Standard Bearer, Senator Jeremiah Koung, and the godfather/Founder of the party, Senator Prince Y. Johnson, over the weekend donated fifteen (15) motorbikes to the Nimba Kwado organization.
Nimba Kwado is an organization of Nimba citizens outside of Nimba, with the objective of keeping the Nimba identity and unity. The group is established within 14 counties in Liberia and the diaspora. The word “Kwado” is a Mano dialect that means “we are one”.
Presenting the motorbikes to the Board of Directors and President of Nimba Kwado, Togba Port and Isaac Dahn, Senator Koung said the donation was part of the party’s contribution toward the organization. He told the gathering at his Roberts International Airport (RIA) Road’s residence that since they, as a party, cannot afford to buy vehicles for such a big and powerful Nimba grouping, it is just prudent to assist them with motorbikes.
The MDR Political Leader told the gathering that the donation is intended to empower Nimba Kwado in a small way. He stated that Nimbaians are all over the country and over the time they have been requesting for assistance from their offices to enable them reach out to members when they are in good or bad situations. Senator Koung disclosed that the motorbikes are branded “Kwado” from the factory. He commended the leadership of Nimba Kwado for keeping the organization alive despite limited support.
For his part, the Founder of MDR, Senator Johnson, urged members of Nimba Kwado to take MDR as their party. He then presented the new leadership of MDR that was elected in December 2022 in Ganta, Nimba County, and called on Nimbaians to work with Senator Koung as Standard Bearer of the party in the ensuiing general elections.
According to Senator Johnson, the relationship between MDR and the ruling Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) is over due to President George M. Weah’s failure to live up to promises he made to the people of Nimba in 2017, which motivated them to support his candidacy. Senator Johnson in a tear of joy claimed that his dream is to be alive and see Nimba producing a president or vice president of the country.
The President of Nimba Kwado, Isaac Dahn, applauded Senators Koung and Johnson, and the MDR family for the gesture. He told the donators that the motorbikes will be used for their intended purpose. He cautioned heads of Nimba Kwado in the various counties not to use the motorbikes for commercial purposes.
