The National Photographers Union of Liberia (NAPUL) will on Thursday, August 19, 2021 join the world over in celebrating the World Photography Day, under the theme, “World, Remembering the Images of COVID-19”.

The National Photographers Union of Liberia Incorporated (NAPUL) has been an accredited union in Liberia since 2000, with members in all the fifteen political sub-divisions of the country.

Speaking to newsmen yesterday, the President of NAPUL, Lawrence Tamba Fokoe, said, as Liberia joins other countries around the world to celebrate the day, he calls on all photographers in and around Liberia to join in the events.

Fokoe noted that the day will be observed nationwide by all NAPUL members, with focus on raising awareness on COVID-19, distributing anti-COVID-19 materials and encouraging citizens to take the COVID-19 vaccine, especially photographers, as a way of fighting the deadly disease.

“We are urging all union members across the country to reach out, house to house, public places, market halls, etc., and make the people aware about the danger of the COVID-19 virus and encourage them to take the vaccine.

“In an effort to have a successful celebration and achieve remarkable desired results, we call on all photographers to follow all health protocols as we celebrate this year’s World Photography Day,” President Fokoe noted.

World Photography Day is an annual event, celebrated worldwide on August 19 of each year. On this day, photographers pay homage to the history of photography—meeting in large gatherings to showcase the value of photographs and the role of photographers in national development.
