New Liberia Standard Authority’s Boss Welcomes Appointment

The newly appointed Director General of the Liberia Standard Authority has welcomed his preferment by President Joseph Nyumah Boakai to administer the affairs of the agency, as a breakthrough in effort to protect the country against the infiltration of sub-standard goods.

   Stephen Yongar Mambu said his administration will ensure that goods entering the commerce of Liberia are closely monitored and tested to determine their fitness for human consumption.

   The Director General, whose appointment takes immediate effect, pointed out that his preferment is indicative of the President’s willingness to absorb qualified competent and experience Liberian into his government.

   Mambu assured President Joseph Nyumah Boakai of his preparedness to meet the expectation of the government, the people of Liberia and international community in the discharge of his function as Director General.

   The Director General also acknowledged the plight of the workers of the Liberia Standard Authority, and promised to prevail on the government for additional budgetary allotment for their welfare.

   He emphasized that the Boakai-led government is making frantic efforts to increase civil servants’ salaries, and urged the entity’s employees to exercise some patience.

   On October 28, 2024 President Joseph Nyuma Boakai named Stephen Y. Mambu as the Director General of the Liberia Standards Authority (LiSA) with immediate effect.

   President Boakai called on appointed officials of government to continue to demonstrate diligence, commitment, integrity, professionalism, and loyalty in service to country.
