As part of effort by his Coalition for Democratic Change (CDC) government to support the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service (LNFRS), H.E. Dr. George Manneh Weah is expected to commission five additional fire trucks, two operational pickups and one ambulance for use by the Liberia National Fire and Rescue Service (LNFRS), totaling eleven the number of fire trucks at the LNFRS.

According to the Director of LNFRS, Col. Alex K. Dickson, when the anticipated five fire trucks are commissioned  by the President, it will bring to eleven the number of fire trucks provided by the government, which he said is unprecedented.

“There was one non-functional fire truck that was met on the grounds when I took over,” Col. Dickson said.

Col. Dickson boasted of massive reform at the fire service under President Weah, ranging from the provision of international training for staff in the United States of America, Nigeria, Morocco, Cameroon, France,  among others.

He disclosed the reopening of three counties’ fire stations, including Grand Bassa, and ten stations in Monrovia.

He disclosed that the medical section has been upgraded and is treating personnel of the fire service as well as the public.

Dickson said, of the 574 manpower in 2018, the LNFRS has now increased in number through the training of additional two hundred persons, totaling over seven hundred.
