Rep. Taylor Receives African Media Network Award
Maryland County Representative Austin Taylor was recently the proud recipient of West African Media Network Award for committing his life to human rights advocacy and humanitarian activities over the years.
The annual award was presented to Representative Taylor based on his performance as a lawmaker and his humanitarianism throughout Liberia, his firm stance against corruption, human rights abuse and other forms of injustices, which has made him a famous and respected public figure, especially in his native Maryland County.
Representative Taylor is mostly popular with the youth, in whom he has invested heavily to build their capacities for the journey ahead of them. Several youths have benefited from the lawmaker’s annual grant and scholarships to be trained in various disciplines and techniques, with no cost on their parents and guardians.
Presenting the award to the honoree, James Carter, Secretary General of the network, said the organization has been following the honoree’s activities with keen interest—long before his election in 2023.
Carter stated that during the review the African Media Network and its partner, the Citizen Action Committee, discovered the amazing performance of the lawmaker, for which he was unanimously selected for the award.
Carter emphasized that the award, Most Outstanding Representative of the Year, is intended to encourage public figures that are always in the vanguard of human rights advocacy in Liberia to do more.
