The United Bong County Association in the Americas (UBCAA) has recommended to the Bong County Legislative Caucus highlights of some critical developmental needs in Bong County.

According to the Chairman of the Board of Directors  of UBCAA, Natt Shaajlia Dakagboi, the UBCAA is pleading with the caucus to do all they can in getting the needed funding to complete the construction of the  Bong County Technical College (BCTC) building.

Chairman Dakagboi made the recommendations Thursday in the office of the Chairman of the Bong County Legislative Caucus on Capitol Hill.

He stated that caucus should exercise its complete legislative oversight on the construction of the building  by establishing  a comprehensive review and monitoring process to provide accountability and transparency.

He noted further that the completion of the college will bring pride to the county and make quality education accessible to the young people.

Chairman Dakagboi maintained that budgetary allocation to all critical healthcare institutions in Bong County in the 2022 draft budget, such as C.B. Dunbar Hospital, has been cut.

He pointed out that these cuts will significantly reduce access to healthcare facilities, which could increase the child mortality rate in the county.

He asserted that the UBCAA’s leadership is asking their lawmakers to work together to lobby for an increase in the budget allocation for health institutions in the county.

Chairman Dakagboi emphasized that increment in the budgetary allotment for the Gbarnga City Corporation will provide equipment and training for staff as well as keeping the city clean.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bong County Legislative Caucus, Representative Joseph Papa Kolleh, said the leadership of the county is doing everything possible to ensure that work on the college continues when the budget passes.

Representative Kolleh stated that the issue relating to health institutions in the county should be associated with the management of the institutions.

He explained that the developmental drive of the county will require the collective effort of Bong County citizens from all walks of life, at home or abroad.

He noted that, despite the challenges facing the county, the county’s legislative caucus is doing everything possible to transform the county.
