THE UNIVERSITY OF Liberia Faculty and Staff Association (ULFASA) convened in a combined Emergency General Assembly on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2:00 midday after what ULFASA described as a “very fruitful meeting with His Excellency, Joseph Nyumah Boakai, Sr., President of the Republic of Liberia on June 21, 2024”. As a result of this meeting, the Visitor of the University, President Boakai constituted an interim management team, headed by Dr. Alhasan Conteh, with the mandate to oversee activities at the UL and resolve the issues of ULFASA.

HENCE, THE NATION’S highest institution of higher learning, University of Liberia (UL), home to over 20,000 undergraduate and graduate students, will on today, Monday, July 1, 2024 resume academic and administrative activities on all of its campuses, as the ULFASA has unanimously resolved to end their disengagement and resume normal academic and administrative activities. ULFASA deserves commendation for the decision to end the disengagement and resume normal activities at the University of Liberia (UL) for the strategic importance of the university to the socio-economic development of the nation.

ACCORDING TO ULFASA, “Furthermore, the interim management team and the UL Board of Trustees (BoT) met with the leadership of ULFASA and assured them of the new team’s commitment to implement the mandate of the Visitor, which includes the demands of ULFASA. “The leadership and members of the ULFASA, being assured of progress by the Visitor and with initial steps taken to resolve the longstanding issues of the university, unanimously resolved to end their disengagement and resume normal academic and administrative activities on Monday, July 1, 2024.”

THE UNIVERSITY OF Liberia Faculty and Staff Association (ULFASA) therefore urged everyone to adhere to this decision as they jointly pursue a lasting pathway to their many issues. They urged all administrative staffs as well as academic staffs to adhere to this decision.
